Poppins Nursery and After School Care, registered in 1997, provides childcare for children aged 2 to 4 years old. Located in Stanmore, Winchester, the nursery operates on non-domestic premises from 8:45 am to 3:15 pm each weekday, also offering a breakfast club.
The dedicated staff, some of whom hold qualifications up to Level 6 in early years, ensure a nurturing environment where children feel safe and secure. The nursery received a "Good" rating in its latest Ofsted inspection on 15th November 2023.
Staff are attentive and kind, fostering a playful atmosphere where children confidently engage with adults, whether practising skills in the role-play area or sharing stories. The curriculum is carefully planned, with staff effectively assessing children's prior knowledge to prioritise key areas like speech and language development, independence, and confidence.
This approach helps children become effective communicators, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) and those who speak English as an additional language, through effective modelling and two-way conversations. Children develop good attitudes towards learning, showing strong listening and attention skills, and are encouraged to solve problems independently through routine activities.
The nursery also focuses on developing children's self-esteem and independence, preparing them for school by teaching techniques for everyday tasks and promoting good hygiene and understanding of their bodies.
