About this day nursery

Owned and managed by the Naval Under Fives Organisation, it accommodates up to 14 children aged 2 to 4, with 15 children currently on roll. The pre-school was last inspected on 5th July 2023, receiving a "Good" rating across all areas.

The dedicated team of four qualified childcare staff provides a welcoming environment where communication and language development are strongly emphasised through engaging activities like storytelling and the use of natural resources. Children are encouraged to make choices and participate in activities that foster their interests, from early mathematical concepts to understanding the life cycle of butterflies.

The staff also focus on fostering independence, good behaviour, and self-care skills, ensuring children are well-prepared for their next stages of learning while enjoying their time at the pre-school.

How they support every child

SEND provision

The special educational needs coordinator (SENCo) works closely with parents and external agencies to support children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND). She uses specialist funding to buy resources that support children's social skills and sensory learning.

Outdoor space

The deputy manager is responsible for completing daily risk assessments. This includes the outdoors, which helps to ensure that children are safe outside.

EAL / language support

Children who speak English as an additional language learn new words that build on their interests. For example, staff use cars to teach children the colours black, green and orange.
