With an overall effectiveness rating of "Good" from its latest Ofsted inspection on 14th July 2023, the nursery offers full-day care from 8am to 5pm during term time.

The setting accommodates children aged 2 to 4 years and has a capacity for 34 children, with 28 currently on roll. A dedicated team of six staff members, five of whom are appropriately qualified, work to create a nurturing and stimulating environment.

How they support every child

SEND provision

Children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) make good progress. Staff swiftly identify needs, contact agencies, and follow professional advice. Additional funding is used to support individual children, and parents highly praise the staff team.

Outdoor space

Children thrive in the outside environment, engaging in well-planned learning experiences. They learn about insects, collect natural items for bug hotel creation, and enjoy sensory play outdoors, such as mixing paint with puddles and shaving foam.

EAL / language support

Leaders understand how to support the communication and language development of all children, including those who speak English as an additional language, using various strategies such as technology equipment to record home languages. However, staff sometimes do not consider how to encourage quieter children, particularly those learning English as an additional language, to participate and engage in conversations.

This is a fantastic nursery ! We visited 7 different ones before making our decision to put our daughter here and she absolutely loves it. The whole team are wonderful with her, using a therapeutic style it's an encouraging, caring and creative environment for her to learn, thrive and make friends too. Our child has additional requirements and Lauren the manager has been superb with understanding what is needed and supporting us all with this. The whole team are always very professional.

Fantastic nursery, staff are brilliant and genuinely care about our children.. our son only had a couple of months here gutted I didnt find it sooner but I wouldn't have him end his nursery journey anywhere else. Thank you st johns staff and thank you Lauren for everything... A++ nursery.

St Johns Nursery is wonderful. My daughter haas really thrived here. I was really anxious about leaving her in nursery and did a lot of research. St Johns is a little nursery but has a really tight knit team of staff who clearly adore looking after little ones, and maintain a great balance of professionalism and kindness towards the children. It's been a very stable environment for her and she loves going and has made lots of friends too. She settled pretty much instantly. They were also tremendously supportive during potty training. Literally the only thing to be aware of is that the days are shorter than some of the larger nurseries in the area (which I’ll be honest, I didn’t get a good vibe from), but the fees reflect this (they accept most funding too I believe). They also offer breakfast and tea clubs to extend the days. All in all a real gem of a place.

We sent our Son to this nursery, it is quite honestly, hands down , the best nursery we have ever used, and we have used a few in the area. The staff are all totally brilliant, they are all so invested in the children and the success of the nursery, everyone works as a team and there is never any feeling that things are not totally under control. Linda is an amazing leader, the communication from nursery to home is amazing. 👍👍😁 Couldn't recommend this place highly enough, it's just a shame that our son is now moving on to school and we don't have any more children to send

Great learning environment. When I turned up fir my original visit the staff never rushed me. The staff are parents themselves so they understand what we as parents go through. My daughter loves it here and that’s what counts. She’s happy, she talks about her day, she goes in happy and comes out happy. I have seen my daughter grown in confidence since she’s been at the nursery. Don’t take my word for it... see for yourself.
