St Paul's Playgroup, located in St Budeaux, Plymouth, Devon, was registered in 1992 and is managed by a committee of parent trustees. This long-established pre-school offers a nurturing and inviting home-from-home environment where children arrive with joy and confidence, independently storing their lunch bags before accessing various age-appropriate activities.
With a 'Good' rating from its latest Ofsted inspection on June 22, 2023, the playgroup focuses on ambitious curriculum goals that prepare children for their next stage of learning, including developing confidence and knowledge in physical development. The committed team of eight staff members holds various levels of childcare qualifications, ensuring high-quality education and care.
The playgroup actively encourages parents to participate in their children's learning experiences and supports families with guidance on healthy eating and dental hygiene. Children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) make good progress due to effective strategies and strong links with outside agencies.
The playgroup operates term-time, Monday to Friday, from 8:30 am to 3 pm, and accepts funded hours for two, three, and four-year-olds.

Children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) make good progress in their learning and development. The special educational needs coordinator supports staff to know and use effective strategies, such as visual cues, which enables children with SEND to thrive. Managers have effective links with outside agencies to ensure that children receive additional professional support when needed.
Older children build core skills and balance as they confidently climb up ladders and walk on stepping stones in the outdoor play area.
