The Colourwheel Montessori Nursery, located in Braintree, provides a nurturing and stimulating environment where children feel secure and are encouraged to reach their full potential. The nursery embraces the Montessori philosophy, offering a "prepared environment" with specially designed classrooms and materials that allow children to explore and learn freely.
The curriculum is divided into five key areas: Practical Life, Sensorial, Language, Maths, and Cultural, each fostering different aspects of development. Beyond these core areas, the nursery also features an art room and a quiet room for children who need to rest.
The Colourwheel prides itself on offering more than just basic early years education, incorporating Forest School sessions, French lessons, and mini mindfulness. Meals are prepared by an in-house chef, adhering to DFE nutrition guidelines.
Established in 2008, the nursery has a dedicated team of qualified staff and offers ample outdoor space, including a mud kitchen and wooded areas, alongside resident chickens.

Inclusion & environment
Children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) are well supported. The special needs and/or disabilities coordinator (SENCo) enthusiastically works collaboratively with other settings in the local area to lead on good practice and create a support network within the community. This helps to ensure a consistent approach for all children and promote their development.
Children freely access the vast array of learning activities available throughout the day, both indoors and outdoors. Older children laugh with delight as they play number games in the garden with friends, and supportive staff encourage them to match numbers with quantity.
A Montessori nursery offers a holistic approach to early childhood education, focusing on independence, creativity, and hands-on learning. I highly recommend Montessori nurseries for parents seeking an environment where their child can develop at their own pace, explore their interests, and cultivate a lifelong love for learning. The child-centered curriculum and emphasis on respect for each child's unique abilities foster a nurturing and stimulating environment, setting a solid foundation for future academic and personal success. I do recommend to every child. My children love attending nursery every day.
