Children arrive at The Mill Nursery happy for their day to begin and are met by warm and welcoming staff who create a nurturing environment. Children show curiosity and confidence, making independent choices in their play. Staff promote children's sense of belonging and emotional well-being through positive interactions.

Inspector highlights

  • The newly appointed manager works in close partnership with the headteacher, sharing a clear vision for the setting.
  • Staff provide a range of activities to support children to develop and strengthen the small muscles in their hands and fingers in readiness for early writing.
  • Staff develop children's self-care skills well, encouraging them to drink from open cups and wash their hands before mealtimes.
  • Partnerships with parents are good, and parents comment on the excellent progress their children have made, particularly their personal, social and emotional development.
  • Staff use the outdoor space to enrich children's knowledge and understanding of the world, encouraging them to use all their senses to explore the natural environment.
