About this day nursery

Wonderland Day Nursery, established in Preston in 2009, provides an outstanding early years experience for children aged 0-4 years, operating all year round from 7:30 am to 6 pm. The nursery is celebrated by Ofsted for its nurturing and calm environment where children thrive.

Staff meticulously plan individual learning journeys, creating unique 'play diets' to offer new experiences and embed understanding. The curriculum focuses strongly on promoting language skills, with staff using stories to link learning across subjects and foster a love of books.

Children develop independence and self-care skills through innovative teaching. The provision for children with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND) is superb, with tailored in-house support and collaborative working with professionals ensuring excellent progress.

Outdoor learning is a key feature, with children developing physical skills and understanding, such as earning a balance bike 'licence,' which also enhances language and risk management. Children become confident and competent learners, well-prepared for their transition to school.

Leaders are passionate and committed to continually raising the quality of learning, seeking new ideas to provide the best possible experience for all children.

Inclusion & environment

How they support every child

SEND provision

Children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) receive superb support. Staff are diligent in working collaboratively with other professionals, and children with SEND benefit from tailored in-house support, which helps to rapidly narrow and close gaps in their learning and development. Consequently, children with SEND make excellent progress.

Outdoor space

Staff teach children specific physical skills and embed their related understanding. For example, children achieve their balance bike 'licence' when they know how to handle and look after the equipment, can use the correct vocabulary for the activity and ride proficiently and safely. This also promotes children's language skills and helps them to manage risk.
