About this day nursery

Gipsey Bridge Preschool, established in January 2004, has expanded significantly from its initial three morning sessions to operating full-day services from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm, Monday to Friday, during term time. The preschool caters to children aged 2 to 11 years and prides itself on having no catchment area, welcoming families from various locations including Boston, Coningsby, Tattershall, Stickney, Sibsey, and Spilsby, as well as working closely with local primary schools.

They offer a comprehensive range of services, including a breakfast club and afterschool club, with the added convenience of a home pick-up and drop-off service subject to availability. The facility features two distinct rooms: the Sunshine Room for 2-3 year olds, focusing on social and emotional development, and the Rainbow Room for 3-4 year olds, preparing them for school through activities that build independence and communication skills.

Inspector highlights

  • The experienced manager has a clear vision for the pre-school and values an approach that goes above and beyond for the families.
  • Children benefit from a curriculum that focuses on language and communication.
  • Staff skilfully use spontaneous opportunities to redirect activities and encourage children to problem solve, such as working out how to stop water flowing out of a bag during an activity about the human body.
  • Staff encourage children's independence, getting dressed for outdoor play and washing their hands for mealtimes, and serving themselves snack.
  • Staff make good use of the local community to provide children with opportunities beyond what they may ordinarily experience, such as trips to the local town or supermarket.

Inclusion & environment

How they support every child

SEND provision

All children, including those children with special educational needs and/or disabilities, make good progress.

Outdoor space

Pre-school children move around the outdoor space collecting natural materials to fill a bug hotel and to look for spiders. Staff extend children's learning about the natural world by introducing the word 'habitat' and prompting a discussion about the kind of habitats bugs like. Children play in a safe environment because staff complete daily checks of the inside and outside areas to identify hazards and reduce potential risks.
