Granby House Nursery, established in 2004, is a childcare setting in Rotherham that provides a good quality of education for children aged 0-4 years. Open all year round from 8am to 6pm on weekdays, excluding bank holidays, the nursery focuses on supporting children's development in a nurturing environment.
The curriculum is broad and varied, ensuring children engage in activities that foster their communication, literacy, and physical skills. Staff effectively support children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), working with parents and other professionals to create individualised educational plans and help with the transition to school.
They use a variety of communication methods, including signs and actions, to ensure all children understand. Outdoor play is a valued part of the daily routine, with dedicated spaces for babies to strengthen their muscles in preparation for sitting and crawling, and for older children to engage in active play.
The nursery places importance on teaching children essential social skills like 'kind hands' and 'kind feet', preparing them for their wider social experiences in school. Through interactive storytelling and play-based learning, children are encouraged to develop a love for reading and an understanding of mathematical concepts, such as comparing sizes and recognising numbers.

Inclusion & environment
Staff support children with special educational needs and/or disabilities and those on the pathway to diagnosis well. Individualised educational plans are in place. Staff work with parents, professionals and teachers to support children's move on to school. They use signs, actions and words to help all children understand their communication. Funding is used well to meet children's individual needs.
Children enjoy outdoor play. Babies bang and tap pans and drums with their fingers and hands. They climb the slide with support from staff. Staff provide space for babies to experience time on their stomach, which strengthens their neck, shoulders, and arm muscles in preparation for sitting, crawling, and walking.
My daughter attends Granby nursery every week, and we couldn’t be happier with our experience. She absolutely loves going and is always excited when it’s nursery day to see her friends, my daughter is made to feel welcome each morning with a very nurturing environment. The staff are so kind, caring, and genuinely invested in the children’s development. They create a safe, fun, and stimulating space where little ones can learn, explore, and build confidence. I love the fact that communication with parents is also excellent, we are always kept informed about activities and her progress, which gives us great peace of mind, parents receive daily updates via the app each morning and afternoon with lovely photos and a brief description of the children’s activity so parents can see what the children are doing while at nursery. I’ve noticed such positive change in my daughter’s social skills, independence, and enthusiasm for learning since she started, especially her vocal skills as she is now talking a lot more clear. I would highly recommend this nursery to any parent looking for a supportive and happy place for their child to attend.
Read on GoogleI honestly cannot recommend Granby Wickersley enough! Our daughter has been attending for just over one year and we couldn’t be happier with the care she receives. She initially settled in very quickly and is always happy when arriving there in the morning. We have seen such a change in her development since she started, which I have no doubt is down to the staff and the activities they do with her. Every single member of staff there is brilliant, they are all so kind and caring. We receive regular updates throughout the day on our daughter, including what she has been up to, what she has eaten, when she has napped etc. For anyone looking for a local nursery, I strongly recommend Granby Wickersley!

Read on GoogleOur daughter has been going to Granby for 18 months and loves it. The staff are lovely and you are kept well updated both in person and via the app. Keep up the good work ☺️
Read on GoogleI removed my child from this nursery. There was a high staff turnover, and I didn’t feel comfortable staffing numbers etc. Also there is a high consumables costs compared to other local nurseries.
