Little PAWS Nursery School, located in Pevensey, opened in 2025 and caters to children aged 1–4 years. The nursery is deeply integrated into the Pevensey & Westham C Of E Primary School community, ensuring a seamless start to children's learning journeys.
Open Monday to Friday from 07:30 to 18:00, Little PAWS provides a nurturing environment where children form trusting relationships with staff and develop confidence and independence. The nursery places a high priority on language development, with staff using narration and introducing new vocabulary through stories, songs, and rhymes.
Children benefit from extensive outdoor learning opportunities, including a woodland area for activities like den building and using tools to develop core muscle strength, as well as regular access to the school’s playing fields and nature areas. The setting is particularly effective in its provision for children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), with dedicated school staff working closely with nursery staff and parents to identify needs and implement support strategies promptly, ensuring every child achieves well.
The latest inspection in March 2026 highlighted the nursery's strong safeguarding standards and significant progress being made by all children, especially those who are potentially more disadvantaged.

Inclusion & environment
The provision for children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) is especially effective. School staff with specific responsibility for children with SEND have high expectations for every child and work closely with nursery staff to identify and assess individual needs quickly and accurately, implementing prompt support strategies.
Children benefit from plenty of opportunities to be outside each day and to take part in active, physical play. Physical development is a key feature, reflected in learning outside within the school's woodland area, where activities like building dens and handling tools help develop core muscle strength. The school-based setting enables children to regularly use the playing fields and nature areas.
