Staff provide excellent support for children with special educational needs and/or disabilities, working with specialist services and attending training to meet individual needs. The manager is highly praised for going "above and beyond" to ensure children are happy and make good progress. Children at The Friary Nursery School arrive happily and develop positive relationships with staff, gaining a wide range of useful skills and knowledge that prepare them well for future learning and school.

They are encouraged to become confident and inquisitive learners, with staff providing an interesting curriculum and numerous opportunities to practice new vocabulary and physical skills. While children love playing and dancing outside, the nursery is working to more effectively integrate the outdoor environment into their plans.

The setting maintains a strong focus on cleanliness and safety, particularly following the COVID-19 pandemic.

Our ethos

Our aim is to provide a happy and secure environment in which children will be allowed to develop intellectually, physically and socially. The aim of our curriculum is to equip children with the skills and knowledge they need to explore and understand the world around them. To develop social skills and independence in carrying out basic life skills.

What it's like to attend

Children arrive happily at the nursery and settle very well due to positive relationships with staff. How they support every child

SEND provision

Staff provide excellent support for children with special educational needs and/or disabilities, dedicating themselves to ensuring children and their parents receive the necessary help. They follow guidance from specialist services and attend training to meet specific needs, with parents overwhelmingly supportive of their efforts.

Outdoor space

Children love to play and dance outside in the fresh air. Staff have not fully explored how the outdoor environment might be used even more effectively in their plans.
