Safe N Sound Shepherd Day Nursery, registered in 2001 and located in Beverley, provides full-day care for children aged 1 to 4 years. 30 pm, Monday to Friday, offering a consistent and supportive environment for young learners.

The dedicated team of 29 childcare staff, 18 of whom hold level 3 or above early years qualifications, including managers with early years professional status, are committed to fostering a positive and engaging learning experience. With a capacity for 90 children and 145 on roll, the nursery provides funded early education for two-, three-, and four-year-old children, as well as before and after-school care and holiday provisions for older children.

They maintain high expectations for children's behaviour, and staff are responsive to individual needs, ensuring children feel respected and acknowledged. The environment is well-organised, and children have opportunities for both indoor and outdoor activities daily, including exploring natural resources and engaging in physical play.

  • Since the last inspection, the toddler room and pre-school room have been separated into two rooms, supporting a more coherently planned and sequenced curriculum.

SEND provision

The manager works closely in partnership with the special educational needs coordinator (SENCo) to ensure that children's specific needs are responded to.

Outdoor space

Children are keen to explore fir cones, pebbles and other natural resources indoors and outdoors. They can choose to play indoors and outdoors throughout the day. Children enjoy constructing an obstacle course with staff and have a range of opportunities for physically active play. The outdoor area is near the pre-school, as well as their own outdoor area, where children enjoy the slide and walking on the beam between crates.
