Inclusion & environment
Leaders in the nursery can identify children with emerging needs and often put their own strategies in place to support them. However, they do not consistently work with external professionals to get expert advice, meaning some strategies do not fully meet children's individual needs, and support is not always as effective as it could be. Nevertheless, staff understand the importance of identifying children's needs through careful assessment and putting plans in place to support them.
Staff ensure that children have daily access to the outdoor play area. Young babies are supported to sit and pull themselves up, helping to build their large-muscle skills. Pre-school children have opportunities to develop their finger muscles through messy play and mark-making activities. Additionally, children benefit from weekly forestry, beach and swimming activities, where children develop an understanding of personal safety.
Support for children learning English as an additional language is developing well, especially for them to feel settled and to understand daily routines.
A Wonderful Start at Wendy House Nursery My daughter has been attending Wendy House Nursery since she was 2 years old, and now at 3.5, I can honestly say it has been the most wonderful experience for her — and for us as parents too. From the very beginning, the staff made her feel safe, welcomed, and truly cared for. Their warmth, dedication, and professionalism shine through in everything they do. They genuinely take the time to get to know each child and support them in a way that feels personal and thoughtful. Our daughter absolutely loves going to nursery. She talks about her teachers and friends with such excitement and often comes home singing new songs, sharing creative stories, or proudly showing us the things she’s learned and made. Her confidence, independence, and communication skills have flourished thanks to the nurturing environment at Wendy House. What stands out most is the positive atmosphere and the strong sense of community. The staff are always approachable, transparent, and genuinely invested in each child’s happiness and development. As a parent, it’s incredibly reassuring to know she’s in such good hands. We’re so grateful to Wendy House Nursery for giving our daughter such a joyful, enriching early childhood experience. I wholeheartedly recommend them to any parent looking for a nurturing, high-quality nursery setting.
