Inclusion & environment
There are a number of children being assessed for additional support regarding their speech and behaviour. These children are new to the nursery, which shows that staff promptly identify that they need further support to have their needs met.
Children enjoy a range of opportunities to develop their physical skills, including climbing on frames, playing with sand and ball games. They also enjoy daily outings in the fresh air and visits to local parks and playgrounds, with staff extending activities from the nursery to the outside world.
A number of children speak English as an additional language and some speak two or three languages at home. However, staff do not provide enough opportunities for these children to develop or use these languages at nursery to celebrate their backgrounds and support their speech development.
We had a wonderful experience with Columbus Courtyard Bright Horizons nursery. Our daughter attended from 12 to 17 months and absolutely loved it. The staff - especially Evita, Tyler, and Anisha - were warm, attentive, and deeply caring. The nursery environment is safe, sunlit, and beautifully tucked away, offering plenty of outdoor time. Our daughter was always excited to arrive and clearly felt secure and joyful throughout her time there. The admin support was excellent, and the daily photo updates were a lovely touch. We highly recommend this nursery and are genuinely grateful for the love and care they provided.
Read on GoogleWe’re incredibly happy with the care our child receives at Ladybugs. Every morning, the team greets our little one with genuine warmth, making drop-offs so much easier. It’s clear how much our child is learning - each week brings new words and delightful surprises! The carers provide regular updates on wellbeing, which we deeply appreciate. The Ladybugs team is truly exceptional - kind, attentive, and full of energy. They create fun, engaging activities daily, teach valuable life skills, and offer plenty of cuddles and comfort. A heartfelt thank you to Anisha, Toyin, Fontayne, Emma, Evita, Felicia, Habiba, and the rest of the amazing team-you make a real difference, and we’re so grateful. The environment is consistently warm and welcoming, even from carers in other rooms and the lovely kitchen staff who know our child by name and greet us with kindness every day.
Read on GoogleThe staff who directly look after the children in the room are absolutely fantastic – they are kind, caring, and clearly do their best for the little ones. However, I feel management needs to make significant improvements in how the nursery is run. Firstly, there is clearly not enough staff for the number of children. While the team works hard, it’s inevitable that accidents will happen more frequently when staff are stretched too thin. Secondly, there seems to be inconsistency in policies: children are often sent home at the slightest concern, while at the same time staff members are allowed to work while unwell, which of course spreads illness to the children. Despite the very high fees parents are paying, there doesn’t appear to be additional staffing or considerations put in place to improve this. Another concern is the way drop-off is handled. If you arrive later than a certain time, it feels unnecessarily complicated to get your child to their team, which really shouldn’t be the case in a service designed to support working parents. There are also issues around how medical decisions are made. For example, my child was once discharged for 48 hours because of two slightly loose stools (which were normal for him after milk), and even when a doctor confirmed nothing was wrong, he was still excluded. In another instance, he was given Calpol despite not having a fever – apparently because the room was hot – which I later heard from other parents has happened before. On top of this, the air conditioning has been out of order for months, yet parents are still expected to pay full fees, which is very disappointing. Overall, while I truly value the effort of the individual staff members caring for the children, the management and operations of the nursery need serious improvement. The team on the ground also appear overworked and, I suspect, underpaid considering the fees charged.
Read on GoogleWe’ve been with the nursery for almost three years and our experience has been very good since new management took over about 2 years ago. The management team are knowledgeable and clear in their priorities, always putting the children’s wellbeing first. They give me confidence that things are run properly, and communication has always been open. Whenever I’ve raised something, it’s been listened to and resolved in a way that made sense. They also create opportunities for parents to be involved, from running helpful sessions on different learning and developmental topics, to events for Mother’s Day, Father’s Day and Women’s Day. I also value the staff recognition initiatives that include parents, which shows real thought in building a sense of community around the nursery. The staff do a demanding job with real care. My son has thrived here and enjoys coming in. Even staff who aren’t directly in his class know him well, and he feels comfortable with them. For his birthday this year, the team went out of their way to make it special. He had a brilliant day, and the thoughtful card with everyone’s messages and photos was a lovely keepsake that showed how much they value the children as individuals. The setting itself is well maintained, with large, bright rooms compared to others in the area. Each room is personalised with artwork and family photos, which helps make it a familiar space for the children. Overall, the nursery has given my son a safe, caring and engaging place to grow, and given me the confidence that he is well looked after every day. It’s clear that the team put thought and effort into creating the best environment they can for the children.
Read on GoogleWe couldn’t be happier with the care our child receives at the nursery. From the very beginning, the whole team has been incredibly welcoming, professional, and nurturing. There is a real sense of warmth and dedication throughout the nursery that has made it a wonderful environment for our child to learn, grow, and thrive. We’d like to give a special mention to our child’s key person, Anisha. She has been truly outstanding in every way. Her diligence, warmth, and attentiveness have made a world of difference to our child’s experience. Anisha takes the time to understand and respond to our child's individual needs and personality, creating a sense of trust and security that is so important at this early stage. She consistently goes above and beyond — whether it’s providing thoughtful updates, supporting development milestones, or simply offering a comforting presence. It’s clear she genuinely cares, and that means everything to us as parents. Thank you, Anisha, and everyone in Baby Room 2 for the fantastic care and support.
